Kuchar finds his rhythm

Matt Kuchar wouldn't say that his approach on the short, par-4 third hole necessarily served as a kick-start for a solid scoring Saturday. The knockdown wedge he nearly holed out seemed to right the ship for the former Georgia Tech star, though. Despite a roller-coaster round that featured six birdies, Kuchar shot 3-under-par 69 on Saturday to move to 4-under, tied for 14th.

Kuchar steals limelight from top-ranked partners

Matt Kuchar was one of the American standard-bearers in the first round of the Masters Tournament. The St. Simons Island, Ga., resident was one shot off the lead with three holes to play and settled for a tie for fifth with 4-under-par 68, his best 18-hole score at Augusta National Golf Club as a professional. He is tied with American Ricky Barnes.

Kuchar in another high-profile group

Matt Kuchar was grouped with Tiger Woods in the first two rounds of the Masters last year, dealing with the accompanying media hoopla surrounding Woods' first start of the year after revelations of his extramarital scandal.

Kuchar hopes year of success will carry over

Matt Kuchar worked for eight years to get back to the Masters Tournament, and what did it get him in 2010? A lot of attention, but only because he was paired with Tiger Woods. A year later, Kuchar returns to Augusta National not in a supporting role, but as an emerging PGA Tour star.
